Is Your Path Aligned With You?

How to know when your internal and external realities no longer match.

In life, it’s common to question whether or not you’re making the right decision or taking the right path. But is there such a thing as a wrong path?

I recently walked away from a path that once felt so true to my soul but slowly began to make me feel miserable. It had me wondering: Why did I have to experience that?

At one point in time, everything within me craved the life I was trying to create, and when the signs of misalignment popped up, I ignored them.

I had spent years—practically my whole life—working toward the same goal, only for my reality to completely fall apart, no matter how much I tried to hold the pieces together.

It felt like a sick joke from the universe.

How could I throw away my entire life and start over?

I genuinely believed that was my highest path, and at first, it broke me to watch it all come crumbling down. But after taking a step back and truly feeling my emotions, I realized it was a blessing in disguise.

I felt trapped in my reality, and the only reason I couldn’t escape was because of my fear. I didn’t believe I had it in me to create a new life. I was scared of what the people around me would think.

Eventually, I gave in, because it was the only thing I could do. I felt a strong sense of liberation because I was no longer tied to the very thing that kept me depressed and in a constant state of lack.

With my old life went my fears surrounding stepping out of my comfort zone, and I ended up on a path that feels mostly aligned with my soul.

There are still some tweaks to be made, but that’s all part of the journey.

I’m still not sure if I believe there is such a thing as a “wrong path.” I think it’s a matter of alignment, and I see alignment as a spectrum rather than it being a simple yes or no.

Like most things in life, it’s not as black and white as our minds may try to make it seem.
